AfterOpenSaveIDML

AfterOpenSaveIDML, a FREE InDesign script that silently creates an IDML backup of the document being opened.

The backups are named, document name + month + day + hour + idml.

You can download the beta version of the script here.

To install the script copy the file to your startup scripts folder and restart InDesign.
